Resolved Question: what color bridesmaid dresses?

Question

Lilly Black asks: ()

I am getting married in December and do not know what color bridesmaid dresses to have. Should my maid and matron of honor have the same color dress as the bridesmaids? Please tell me some colors that would compliment the colors you tell me.

Please be descriptive! Don't just say blue. Sea blue, or baby blue? There are so many shades of blue!

Any colors will work for any time of year.

Your Maid and Matron of Honor can be in the same colors as your other bridesmaids, or they can be in another shade of the same color, or another color entirely. Your call.

Talk to your fiance and see what kind of colors he likes.

Go shopping with your bridesmaids and see what colors look nice on them, and what they like. If you have not yet selected your wedding colors, you could build them off of what the bridesmaids vote for.

When in doubt, use black and white. Simple, classic, easy to find and easy to match.

Don't worry too much about wedding colors. The only place we used them was in the invitations and the bridal party members' attire. The florist helped me choose complementing flowers to use in the bouquets and centerpieces. We used the reception hall's standard white tablecloths, and neutral napkins. Done and done. It's so easy if you don't stress over it.

My cousin recently got married and for her wedding her maid of honors which were her 2 sisters and her bridesmaids all had the same color dresses but they were all different styles so that the dress would look good on them. Her colors were chocolate brown, light pink, Champagne and a badge color. SInce its winter I would pick would pick the dresses to be darker colors. I also would pick out the dress colors to match the colors of my wedding.

I personally like having all the girls in the same color, just in different styles. I'm not sure what "theme" or style you are going for, but I like the following colors for winter:

-navy blue (with silver accents)
-deep red (with silver or gold accents)
-deep purple/plum (with icy blue and silver OR gold accents)**my favorite

First go with your and your future hubby favorite color and work around that. And if you still need help then for the holiday season I would do a christmas theme and have these sets of colors and see the links below.

Burgundy and gold or Burgundy and Champagne- That is nice colors for a bold and calm look you can do alot with that. You don't have to have you maid of honor in the same color dresses as the bridesmaids. I am not doing that. I will explain my style after this. You can have the bridesmaids in the burgundy color and the maid of honor in the gold color. They all can wear the gold shoes.

Or

You can do ice blue and navy blue with silver. You can do a nice icle theme and get favor ideas and decorations from the link below also. That is a slowly popular theme to do. when I saw that I loved it and kind of wish I use those colors.

Or if you are a purple person. Try a dark plum and a champagne color that is really pretty for winter and you can do alot with that theme like a wine in the winter time theme.

I am having trouble deciding on fall colors for my wedding but for me, I would know exactly what I wanted if it were a winter wedding.

I would do sliver and blue with snowflakes and everything glittery.

well i think it really depends on what color(s) complement you the most since its in December i would say a blue or a light green and the maid of honors dress should be the same color but different style of dress then the bridesmaids dresses.

The thing is....what color(s) do YOU like? Usually, you get inspriration from what colors you and/or your fiance like.

For December....I LOVE any shade of the "blues" - icy blue/royal blue/navy blue and pair it with silver. Very pretty for December!

Hope this helps!

Navy blue. I also like the suggestions of using your favorite color, or seeing what looks good on your bridesmaids and what they want to wear.
